(you know I have something on my mind when I am stuck at work and I turn to LJ because I need to let it out.)

And in the end, Faith.

It's very hard to not be disappointed but I will choose to be thankful. We always have a choice. Always.

"Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus" (1 Thess 5:16-18)

Never been harder.

I wonder where you are and what you're doing. and I hope that you're not awake like I am, or that if you are, it is for far better reasons.

Mmmm...Maybe :)

I think this little thing is called "Hope". It feels quite nice, actually. Maybe you'll stay a little bit longer this time?

[moozik |Jeremy Camp, I'll Take You Back]

In the middle of this almost empty room, all it took was one song and I am again overwhelmed by Your love. Why do You love me, despite my shortcomings and a heart wont to question?

I can only speak with a grateful heart
As I'm pierced by this gift of your love
I will always bring an offering
I can never thank you enough

losers need not apply [May. 27th, 2007|10:43 am]
One too many disappointments. From the same person.

Tsk tsk.

Don't say things you don't jolly well have the intention of seeing through. I thought you already knew that.

Fighting. Hard. To. Just. Let. Go.

I loved this.

From pok_a_lot

you can cry because you know the tears will stop and you will get over it. what if there just aren't enough tears in you to cry before you get over it?

It's time to get me some melancholy and remind myself that I am more than just another drone. Or corporate monkey.

And then there are days when you just feel as dumb as a rock.

The Circus Begins [Nov. 24th, 2006|07:45 am]
Ladies and Gents,

Welcome to the main event. We hope you enjoyed the opening acts, where we found our protagonist learn how to deal with what she thought was the most OC person this side of the Pacific and slowly work her way towards that much coveted PowerPoint Extraordinaire appellation.

For the next show, we will see how our heroine learns there are bigger OCs on her side of the Pacific AND how to become an Excel master in no time flat. It's sink or swim, ladies and gentlemen, and we'll soon see whether our paladin's short stint with the swim team will prove useful.

Stay tuned!

Missing... [Oct. 1st, 2006|09:47 pm]
...Singapore. Or actually, the people in it. So there! I haven't had to eat any words yet, eh? ;)

I miss my cell group badly. The one I'm proud to have spent the 4 years in Singapore with (with 1 year where I went all MIA and regret it deeply). To the crazy games we play. And the sharing. The love. The food. The freezing cold A/C. The blue walls and the oversized pillows that are in desperate need of some serious washing. The frenzied cutting and pasting and writing and distributing and smiling and praying.

I miss five crazy girls whom I spent one of the best years of my life with, living beside them and allowing each other to be privy to each other's psychoses. To the late night random whinings, 8:30 a.m. wake up calls, midafternoon dancing and random tableaux. The Milo Pings and suppers. The buzzer beating running shoes and the cheering squad.

I miss this one special girl, one I wouldn't meet if it weren't for someone I don't keep in touch with any more. God has a funny way of making things fall into place, yes? Giggling and planning. Dreaming. Stress relieving. Music tripping. Heartaches and everything else in between. Picking on the boy and being picked on by him, and having her look on and laugh at our inanity.

I miss another special girl who can put my corniness to shame, who is kind not only because she lets me ramble on and on and on but she is actually more caring than she cares to admit. Crazy late night MRT ride to the middle of nowhere, helping me chase an equally crazy dream. "Short" conversations that unknowingly extend to hours. Our friendship was founded on the crazy things the Econ department put us through but grew deeper over time and extended far beyond that. And I'm glad I did.

It's not so much the place, I've come to realize. Home is always where the people you love are.

Whee! I'm still at work!

Whee!! I'm the only one left here!

Whee!!! After this, my PowerPointing skills are gonna make you cry (out of envy)!

Whee!!!! The only real reason why I'm still at work is because of Manila traffic and my attempts to avoid it.

Whee!!!!! Here's a comic strip to try to make you half as amused as I am right now (though you and I both know that's not going to happen).

here, have a Happy Pill!

History matters, as plain & as simple as that.

Who'd have thought Lao Tzu could come up with such a beautiful quotable quote? Go you (dead) Chinese scholar, you!

"To love someone deeply gives you strength. Being loved by someone deeply gives you courage."

And since we're on the topic of quotable quotes, here's another beautiful one I came across today:

"They gave each other a smile with a future in it." (Ring Lardner)

cleaning [Jul. 22nd, 2006|12:28 pm]
Humans are queer things, methinks. We take a train ticket, a flower petal, an otherwise ordinary looking brown paper bag and transform them into otherworldly things. Hardly anyone believes in magic these days. I wonder why though, when we seem to be capable of it everyday.

I wonder how I'll be when I'm old and gray. Will I hold on fiercely to that piece of lace, to the bundle of handwritten letters, to the images of the young, idealistic and sprightly self I used to be? What will happen to these things I've made sacred, by virtue of the "story" behind them, when I move on from this life? And even though I know I shouldn't care what happens to my things when I'm already six feet under, I do. Ugh. I am the ultimate pack rat.

The thought that the things that held so much meaning to me would be nothing but a hefty collection of odds and ends to someone else pierces me. It saddens me to think that the only things I have to remind me of those special ephemeral moments would be thrown away with yesterday's trash. Maybe all we really have is our own lives (and God).

Cleaning has a way of doing this to me. This supposedly cathartic process of removing the useless, the unwanted, the cluttered part of my life dredges up melancholic thoughts. I suspect that failing my 12 Step Program when I've finally reached the penultimate stage has also weighed in heavily on my current state of moroseness. But that, of course, is another story waiting for a particularly cold and rainy day when I have nothing better to do and have too much to think about.
